Elvet Recruitment has been appointed to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of an established house builder based in Nortumberland. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and dynamic team, offering long-term career development in a thriving business and could be suited to an experienced QS who is looking to make the step to Senior Quantity Surveyor.
About the Role:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects a residential developments within the area. You’ll play a key role in budgeting, cost control, subcontractor management, and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare draft and site start budgets for allocated developments.
* Produce quarterly valuations and material cost-to-complete exercises.
* Manage subcontractor payments and final accounts, ensuring proper sign-off.
* Issue subcontract orders in line with company policy and required documentation.
* Conduct on-site measurements and assess contractor payments.
* Attend and contribute to meetings with internal teams and external contractors.
* Oversee subcontractor performance and maintain trade specifications.
* Price customer extras and liaise with the sales team as needed.
* Manage the Professional Fees Budget and assist with material buying.
* Support land appraisals through take-offs and cost input.
About You:
We’re looking for a commercially astute and detail-oriented professional with:
* Proven experience in quantity surveying within residential construction.
* Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Xpedeon and Viewpoint/4Projects is a plus.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage your own workload and contribute to wider team goals.
* Solid understanding of surveying, estimating, and financial return strategies.
* Experience with cost reporting, procure-to-pay systems, and document management..
