E&I Technician / Chemicals / Manchester / £44,557 rising to £50,411 + benefits
This is a days-based role working Monday to Friday, with occasional participation in a weekend support rota.
Once you are fully up to speed with the site, systems, and responsibilities, the total package will be £50,411. In addition, the role offers an excellent benefits package, including approximately 60 days of annual leave.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to join an Integrated Operations team at an Upper Tier COMAH chemical manufacturing site. This is a key role supporting the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of high-hazard process plant equipment.
You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, playing a vital part in keeping the site running efficiently and safely. Working within a small, close-knit engineering team, you’ll contribute to both day-to-day maintenance and longer-term improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
As an E&I Technician, your responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out planned preventative and breakdown maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems within a chemical manufacturing environment
* Diagnosing faults and carrying out corrective repairs to minimise downtime
* Working in full compliance with site health, safety, and environmental standards, including the Permit to Work system
* Using the company ERP system to order materials and services
* Managing work orders, preventive maintenance activities, and time recording through the Engineering Management System
* Supporting wider engineering activities across the site as required
* Deputising for the E&I Coordinator during periods of absence
Qualifications & Certifications
Essential:
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or a related discipline
* City & Guilds qualification in BS 7671:2022 (18th Edition)
* Trained in installation and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment in hazardous areas (ATEX) or heavy industrial sector.
* CompEx
