Solaris/Unix Engineer

Contract | Inside IR35 | Hybrid (1-2 days per week)

We are seeking an experienced Solaris/Unix Engineer to join a busy infrastructure team supporting a business-critical Solaris estate.

This role will focus on the support, maintenance and ongoing improvement of Solaris platforms within a complex enterprise environment. We're looking for a hands-on infrastructure professional with strong Solaris administration skills and a solid background in Unix systems.

• Support and maintain Oracle Solaris environments

• Perform system administration, patching and upgrades

• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues

• Develop and maintain Shell Scripts to support automation and operational activities

• Work closely with wider infrastructure and virtualisation teams

• Support ongoing platform improvement and infrastructure projects

• Contribute to system documentation and operational procedures

• Strong Oracle Solaris administration experience

• Solid Unix systems administration background

• Shell Scripting experience (KSH, KornShell, Bash or similar)

• Experience supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure environments

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Experience working within complex operational environments

• Solaris Zones

• LDOMs (Logical Domains)

• SPARC hardware

• Linux administration

• Storage and networking technologies

• Infrastructure migration projects

• High availability and disaster recovery environments

• Initial contract with strong likelihood of extension

• Inside IR35

• Hybrid working (1-2 days per week onsite)

• Day rate circa £350-£400 per day, with some flexibility for the right individual
