1. Position Details
Job Title: Mechanical Contracts Manager Reporting To: Group Managing Director / Contracts Director Location: Head Office / Client Sites (as required)
2. Role Purpose
Responsible for the overall commercial, technical, and operational delivery of mechanical installation and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with contractual, safety, programme, and financial requirements.
3. Scope of Responsibility
Full responsibility for multiple projects, site personnel, subcontractors, and commercial performance, retaining accountability for all delegated duties.
4. Key Responsibilities
• Pre-contract review, site surveys, estimating and quotation preparation • Project planning, coordination, and delivery • Health & Safety compliance, RAMS, CDM adherence • Commercial control, cost management, and variations • Site management, supervision, and subcontract coordination • Project completion and final account agreement • Internal reporting and participation in WIP/resource planning
5. Authority
Authorised to commit resources within budget, instruct procurement and subcontractors, and represent the company in meetings. Escalation required for decisions outside limits.
6. Accountability
Accountable for safety, quality, cost control, programme delivery, accurate reporting, and client satisfaction.
7. Working Relationships
Internal: Directors, accounts, procurement, supervisors External: Clients, subcontractors, suppliers
8. Person Specification
Essential: Mechanical contracting/project management experience, commercial awareness, H&S knowledge Desirable: Engineering qualification, SMSTS/IOSH
9. General Conditions
Compliance with company procedures, flexibility for site work, and role subject to business needs
