Role: Depot Manager
Location: Stoke on Trent
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 DOE + Company car + Bonus
Shift: Monday – Friday (37 hours)
My client, a leading national provider of Automatic and Industrial Door Systems, is on the lookout for a Depot Manager to join their field service team. Reporting directly to the Regional Manager you will be responsible for implementing their strategies, ensuring the depot remains profitable by controlling costs, increasing efficiencies and managing your team effectively.
You will also oversee and be responsible for all of the day-to-day aspects of a regional depot to ensure that the business and budgetary needs are being met. Effectively supervise all team members, and play an essential role in customer and supplier relations in order to build long lasting relationships and continued year on year growth.
As a Depot Manager you will be responsible for
Managing all day-to-day depot operations and supporting the wider regional team.
Scheduling and coordinating engineers, service visits, and planned works.
Ordering goods, equipment, materials, and managing stock levels to ensure operational efficiency.
Handling customer enquiries, issues, complaints, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Managing incoming calls, regional email inboxes, and customer communications.
Producing quotations, raising purchase orders, and processing customer invoices.
Managing proforma accounts and ensuring timely payment processes.
Preparing and reviewing Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS).
Ensuring compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS), company policies, and procedures.
Conducting site audits, vehicle audits, and depot compliance checks.
Monitoring financial performance, including debt reports, cost control, and operational efficiencies.
Processing and submitting engineer timesheets and payroll-related documentation.
Leading, supporting, and developing depot personnel through effective people management.
Managing HR-related activities, including performance management, absence management, and employee development.
Organising and participating in Health & Safety meetings and ensuring a safe working environment.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance depot performance and customer service.
Participating in the out-of-hours call rota to support business requirements.
Ensuring all depot activities are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with company objectives.
The successful Depot Manager will have the following experience
Strong computer literacy and confidence using business systems and software.
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
The ability to work independently and use their own initiative to solve problems and make decisions.
Strong planning and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proven leadership experience with excellent people management and team development abilities.
A flexible and adaptable approach to meet the demands of a fast-paced operational environment.
A full UK driving licence.
A proactive mindset with the ability to identify improvements and implement innovative solutions.
An approachable and supportive management style.
A willingness to learn, develop, and continuously improve both personally and professionally.
