We are looking for compassionate, resilient and dedicated Residential Support Workers to support children and young people in therapeutic residential and supported accommodation settings.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help vulnerable young people overcome challenges, develop independence and achieve positive outcomes within a safe and nurturing environment.
Shift Pattern:
* 9:00am – 11:00pm (including a sleep-in)
* 7:00am – 9:30am the following morning
* 7 x 24-hour shifts (including sleep-ins) over a 3-week rolling rota
About the Young People
You will be supporting young people who have experienced significant trauma and adversity. Many have backgrounds that include placement breakdowns, poor mental health, attachment difficulties, emotional and behavioural needs, exploitation, substance misuse, self-harm or other vulnerabilities.
The homes follow a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach, where staff focus on building trusting relationships, understanding each young person's individual needs and creating a stable, family-style environment that promotes emotional wellbeing, resilience and independence.
Successful candidates will be patient, empathetic and committed to helping young people feel safe, valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities
* Build positive, trusting and therapeutic relationships with young people.
* Support young people with daily routines, independence and life skills.
* Read and follow individual care plans, understanding each young person's needs, interests and triggers.
* Promote positive behaviour using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
* Encourage participation in education, hobbies and community activities.
* Support young people in managing their emotions and behaviours..
* Complete accurate daily records and care documentation.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
What We're Looking For
* Applicants must be 21 years of age or over.
* A full UK driving licence is essential.
* Minimum 6 months' experience working with children or young people in residential care, supported accommodation, education, youth work or a similar setting.
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
* A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes.
* An understanding of, or willingness to learn, therapeutic and trauma-informed care practices.
Training & Development
Comprehensive training is provided, including:
* Level 4 Residential Childcare Qualification (or Level 3 where applicable)
* PRICE Physical Intervention Training
* Developmental Trauma Training
* Therapeutic Parenting
* Positive Behaviour Support
