Salary: Circa £57,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site

Security Clearance: British Citizen. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

As Tool Design Team Lead, you will be responsible for a high performing group of up to six engineers, both delivering and managing complex tooling design solutions across a wide range of projects. This is a key leadership role in a dynamic environment where your technical expertise and ability to lead a team will help shape continued success.

You will guide the team at the heart of a rapidly evolving and high demand sector, where smart, adaptable solutions are the key to success. This role requires both you, and your team to deliver design solutions balancing technical leadership with project management. Using lateral thinking to explore new approaches, the team will deliver high quality solutions both on time and in budget. You will help forge cross-functional bonds and ensure all members of the team are empowered to deliver practical and innovative solutions that keep pace with growing demands.

Key responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and continue to develop a team of high performing mechanical engineers
Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals
Manage project timelines, priorities and resource allocation, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
Identify and remove blockers and foster team collaboration
Provide regular feedback, career development support and team engagement activities.What we're looking for from you:
Ideally Degree/HND/HNC qualified plus significant experience in Mechanical Design and Development
Must have a good amount of 3D modelling experience and be able to assess 3D models for their quality. Experience in 3D annotations would be an advantage
Strong background in the production of engineering drawings with high attention to detail
Knowledge of BS8888 Technical product documentation and specification, ISO 1101 Geometrical product specifications, ISO 5459 Datum and datum systems, and GD & T
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
