About this Position:
A Mechanical Design Engineer is required to join a collaborative engineering team on a 3 month contract. The role involves producing 3D CAD designs and detailed technical drawings for fabricated structures, assemblies, and vehicle system integrations. You will support projects from concept through to manufacture, with opportunities to contribute to challenging engineering solutions in the military and heavy equipment sectors.
Job Responsibilities:
* Produce 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings to BS8888 standards using Autodesk Inventor.
* Design structural and fabricated components with consideration for Design for Manufacture.
* Prepare engineering calculations and support analysis activities.
* Manage project workloads and deliver work to agreed deadlines.
* Present design solutions and participate in design reviews with stakeholders.
* Support manufacturing, assembly and testing activities.
* Maintain CAD data, drawings and bills of materials.
* Provide technical support across the business and liaise with suppliers.
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Experience Required:
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (BEng/BSc).
* Minimum of 5 years' design engineering experience.
* Strong Autodesk Inventor experience for 3D modelling and drawing creation.
* Experience producing technical drawings and bills of materials.
* Understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
* Organised approach with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
* FEA experience desirable but not essential.
* Full UK driving licence required
