Special Projects Fire Safety Advisor
Location: South East London
Contract: 3-Month Ongoing Contract (Potential Extension up to 12 Months)
Rate: £500 per day Umbrella
Hours: Full-Time – 36 Hours per Week
The Role As Special Projects Fire Safety Advisor, you will act as the organisation's technical expert on fire safety matters relating to external wall systems and associated building safety risks.
You will review complex fire safety assessments, provide specialist advice on risk mitigation, support investigative programmes, contribute to legal recovery actions, and ensure compliance with the latest legislation and guidance, including PAS 9980 and the Building Safety Act.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Fire Safety Leadership
Provide expert fire safety advice across a portfolio of high-risk residential buildings.
Act as the subject matter expert on external wall systems (EWS) and fire safety compliance.
Review and interpret complex technical reports and investigations, including:
Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEWs)
Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs)
Cladding and façade investigations
Spandrel panel and cavity barrier assessments
Provide clear and practical recommendations to support risk mitigation and remediation programmes.
Essential Skills & Experience To be successful in this role, you will have:
Significant fire safety experience within housing, construction, property, or building safety environments.
Strong technical knowledge of external wall systems, cladding risks, and fire safety regulations.
Extensive experience reviewing FRAEWs, FRAs, and complex fire engineering reports.
Knowledge of PAS 9980 and current building safety legislation.
Experience supporting remediation programmes and building safety investigations.
Familiarity with the Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS), Building Safety Fund, or similar funding programmes.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex technical information and provide practical recommendations.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
The ability to influence decision-making and provide expert advice within a complex organisational environment.
