Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services

Role Overview

You'll play a key role in design, coordination, and technical delivery while contributing to best practice and supporting junior team members.

Lead the design, planning, and delivery of mechanical and electrical engineering projects.
Produce and review technical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
Conduct site visits and surveys to support design development.
Coordinate project activities, resources, and programme milestones.
Prepare high‑quality documentation, reports, and technical records.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards, including RAMS.
Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Apply and develop expertise in ASHP, GSHP, and energy‑efficient systems.
Attend client meetings and provide technical input.
Support continuous improvement and mentor junior colleagues.
Perform detailed HVAC calculations (heat loss/gain, ventilation, system sizing).
Design HVAC systems including ductwork, pipework, plant rooms, and distribution networks.
Ensure compliance with CIBSE, Building Regulations, BS, and IET Wiring Regulations.
Undertake mechanical and electrical load calculations (heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, distribution).Experience & Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar.
Strong interest in building services and sustainable energy solutions.
Excellent understanding of engineering principles.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD (Revit desirable).
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.What's on Offer
