The Opportunity

An established multidisciplinary building services consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing team in either London or Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and technically capable engineer seeking to take a leading role across a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial developments while helping to shape the future growth of the business.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across mechanical building services design, managing projects from concept through to completion, while supporting the development of junior engineers and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the mechanical design and delivery of residential and commercial building services projects.
Develop innovative, practical, and technically robust engineering solutions.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality requirements.
Act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, graduates, and apprentices.
Support the ongoing professional development of team members through coaching and knowledge sharing.
Collaborate closely with electrical, public health, sustainability, and structural engineering teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with industry standards, regulations, and company procedures.
Oversee design management processes and maintain high standards of document control.About You

Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years' experience within a building services consultancy environment.
Proven track record delivering residential and commercial projects.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical building services design, and UK Building Regulations.
Experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
Excellent communication skills with a confident client-facing approach.
Passionate about mentoring and supporting the development of junior engineers.
Working towards or already holding Chartered Engineer status through CIBSE, IMechE, IET, or an equivalent professional institution.What's on Offer
