Position: Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Oxford (Hybrid)
Overview
My client is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its Oxford office on a hybrid working basis. This role sits within a multidisciplinary building service engineering team, delivering high-quality electrical design solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects including commercial, residential, education, and healthcare developments. They work on commercial, residential, education, healthcare and retail and also sustainability.
This is a senior-level position suited to an experienced engineer who can lead design delivery, and take ownership of projects from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
You will take a leading role in the delivery of electrical building services design, including:
Leading electrical design on projects from concept through detailed design and construction stages
Producing and reviewing detailed design calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
Coordinating with mechanical engineers, architects, structural engineers, and external stakeholders
Ensuring compliance with UK Building Regulations, relevant British Standards, and client requirements
Undertaking site inspections, technical surveys, and supporting construction phase services
Managing project deliverables, deadlines, and technical quality control
Supporting and mentoring junior and intermediate engineers within the team
Contributing to client meetings, design reviews, and technical presentations
Assisting in fee proposals, scope definition, and project planning where requiredRequired Skills and Experience
Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
Chartered status (CEng) or working towards it (IET or CIBSE preferred)
Strong experience in electrical building services design within the UK consultancy environment
Proficiency with design tools such as Amtech/Trimble, Dialux/Relux, and AutoCAD (Revit experience desirable)
Solid understanding of UK regulations, including BS 7671 and Building Regulations Part L
Experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to deadlinesBenefits
