Location: Bonnrigg, South Queensferry or Stepps (South-East Region)

BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,00km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.
On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland manages and maintains over 750 structures across the South East trunk road network. This diverse portfolio includes major and complex bridge assets such as long-span structures, post-tensioned concrete bridges, steel composite bridges, and critical crossings on key strategic routes, as well as culverts, retaining walls, and footbridges.
Join our South East Bridges Team as a Bridge Engineer in our Bonnyrigg, South Queensferry, or Stepps office. We’re looking for self-driven team players who are eager to support a broad and varied programme of bridge engineering work, from inspections through to scheme design and delivery.
Key Role and Responsibilities:
* Assist with the design of bridge maintenance and improvement schemes
* Prepare cost estimates and maintain accurate design records
* Support project delivery to ensure work is completed on time and within budget
* Update structural records using client systems
* Assist with contractor coordination and site activities
* Contribute to risk assessments and health & safety documentation
* Work closely with colleagues across the Bridges Team
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Experience in bridge design or maintenance (early–mid career encouraged)
* Working towards or holding professional membership (e.g. IEng/CEng)
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills
* A proactive, team-focused approach
* Full UK driving licence
