Design Technology Technician – Secondary School
Location: Haringey, North London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only (plus INSET days)
Salary: NJC Scale 6 (dependent on experience)
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Design Technology Technician to join a thriving secondary school in Haringey. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician to support the Design Technology department and contribute to an engaging learning environment for students.
The Role
As Design Technology Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across the DT department. You will be responsible for preparing materials, maintaining equipment, ensuring health and safety compliance, and assisting staff and students with practical activities.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare materials, tools and equipment for practical DT lessons.
Maintain workshops, machinery and specialist equipment to a high standard.
Support teachers during practical lessons when required.
Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
Monitor and manage stock levels, ordering materials and supplies as needed.
Maintain an organised and safe working environment.
Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs of equipment.
Support projects involving CAD/CAM, laser cutters, 3D printers and workshop machinery where applicable.The Successful Candidate Will Have
Previous experience working as a DT Technician, Workshop Technician or in a similar technical role.
Knowledge of workshop practices, machinery and health and safety regulations.
Experience with woodwork, metalwork, engineering or manufacturing environments.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
