We're looking for caring, proactive Independence & Learning Support Assistants to support young people aged 16-25 with additional needs. This role focusses on helping learners build confidence, communication and essential life skills in both classroom and practical settings.
As an Independence & Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Support learners through person‑centred, independence‑focused activities
Work closely with teachers to deliver accessible, engaging lessons
Provide 1:1 and small‑group support
Promote positive behaviour, communication and social interaction
Assist with practical tasks such as note‑taking and organisation
Support learners during unstructured times, modelling appropriate social skills
Maintain accurate records of progress and achievements
Provide personal care, mobility support and mealtime assistance where required
Follow safeguarding, care plans and infection‑control procedures
What you'll need to succeed
Experience in SEN, care or education
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Understanding of safeguarding and learner welfare
Willingness to support with personal care
A positive, patient and proactive approach
