An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fabric Technician to join one of the UK's leading Facilities Management providers, working across a portfolio of supermarkets and retail petrol filling stations within the Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a proactive and hands-on engineer to deliver high-quality planned and reactive non-technical maintenance, with a strong focus on groundworks and external maintenance, across multiple sites within the region.

This role is ideal for a practical individual with strong building and groundwork experience who enjoys working independently in a fast-paced retail environment, ensuring sites remain safe, compliant and well maintained at all times.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive non-technical repairs across a number of petrol filling station sites. A key element of the role will be groundworks and external fabric maintenance, alongside general building, plumbing and minor HVAC support tasks.
All works must be completed efficiently, cost-effectively and to a high standard, while fully complying with Health & Safety legislation and service level agreements.

Duties

Carry out planned and reactive groundworks maintenance across petrol filling station sites

Repair and maintain car park surfaces, paving, concrete, bollards, barriers, kerbs, drainage channels and external walkways

Ensure all forecourt areas are safe, compliant and well maintained at all times

Maintain and clean surface and foul water drainage systems

Carry out minor civils and building fabric repairs including walls, doors, floors, fencing and external structures

Complete general plumbing and sanitaryware maintenance including sinks, toilets, urinals, taps, leaks and blockages

Undertake pest low-level actions within required timescales

Support minor HVAC tasks including filter changes, belt replacement/re-tensioning, lubrication and coil cleaning

Complete all PPMs and ensure remedial actions are logged and actioned to maintain legal compliance

Respond promptly to helpdesk requests and prioritise jobs to agreed timescales

Order spare parts as required and liaise with site management to minimise disruption

Ensure all tools, equipment and materials are available and serviceable

Accurately complete documentation, timesheets and mobile system updates

Monitor and update the maintenance management system with live job progress

Identify non-repairable issues and provide recommendations to line management

Liaise with project teams on site alterations, refurbishments and modernisation works

Carry out surveys and complete reports as required

Ensure systems are safely shut down and restarted following works

Support other technicians when required

Work flexibly across the regional cluster when needed

Comply at all times with Health & Safety policies, procedures and environmental regulations

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

GCSE standard education
Building Trade Qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds)

Strong background in general building maintenance and repairs

Competence in drainage, paving, concrete and external fabric repairs

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

PC / tablet literate (Apple & Android)

Good communication skills (written and verbal)

Customer-focused, professional and approachable

Strong problem-solving skills

Ability to work at height and competent using steps and ladders

Full UK driving licence

Flexible, hands-on approach to work

Desirable

Time-served apprenticeship

Water Byelaws qualification

L8 Legionella awareness

Previous experience working on petrol filling stations or retail environments

Working Hours

Monday to Friday

45 hours per week

Salary / Package

Salary: £35,000

Company van + fuel card, option for private use
