Overview
We are looking for an experienced Hydraulic Engineer to join a growing and well-established engineering business based in Avonmouth, Bristol.
This role involves the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of hydraulic systems within industrial and manufacturing environments. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering teams, delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a diverse range of projects.
The position is ideally suited to engineers with experience in hydraulic systems, heavy engineering, manufacturing, process industries, or industrial maintenance environments.
Former Armed Forces personnel are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those with transferable mechanical, hydraulic, or engineering experience.

Key Responsibilities
Design and develop hydraulic systems and associated components
Diagnose and resolve hydraulic faults on industrial machinery and equipment
Carry out hydraulic calculations, system testing, and performance analysis
Support installation, commissioning, and refurbishment projects
Produce technical documentation, drawings, and reports
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal engineering teams
Provide technical support during project delivery and maintenance activities
Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety standards
Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices
Candidate Requirements (Essential)
HNC/HND, Apprenticeship, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a related discipline
Experience working with hydraulic systems in industrial, manufacturing, process, or heavy engineering environments
Strong understanding of hydraulic circuits, pumps, valves, cylinders, and power packs
Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and engineering drawings
Proven fault-finding and diagnostic experience
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
Experience with electro-hydraulic control systems
Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation
Experience within manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, aggregates, or industrial sectors
IOSH or other relevant health and safety qualifications
Military engineering background
Experience supporting installation and commissioning projects
