Senior Software Engineer (m,f,d) - GenAI/CI/CD/Java/Scripting Bern 80 - 100%

Project: To join a leading Swiss organisation, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (GenAI) to support the adoption of AI-enabled software delivery practices across engineering teams.

This is not a pure AI, Machine Learning, or prompt engineering role. The focus is on hands-on software engineering, using GenAI tools pragmatically within the software development life cycle to improve engineering effectiveness while maintaining high standards of quality, security, and maintainability.

Your Responsibilities:

• Contribute hands-on to software engineering activities within modern development environments
• Apply GenAI tools effectively as part of day-to-day software delivery
• Support teams in adopting AI-assisted development practices in a practical and disciplined manner
• Promote engineering best practices across development, testing, code review, and CI/CD processes
• Help improve developer productivity and engineering effectiveness without compromising quality

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
• Senior software engineer with 8+ years of hands-on software development experience gained within modern delivery environments
• Strong hands-on development experience in Java, C#, TypeScript, Node.js and/or Python
• Proven practical experience using GenAI tools as part of the software development life cycle
• Experience with modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and code reviews
• Solid understanding of software quality, security, maintainability, and engineering best practices
• Experience working within Agile and collaborative software engineering teams
• Ability to support and influence teams in the adoption of AI-assisted development practices
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with a low-hype approach to AI
• Experience with GitHub, GitHub Copilot, or similar tooling
• Experience enabling or coaching teams in AI-assisted development practices
• Background in developer productivity, engineering enablement, or engineering effectiveness initiatives

Languages:

• Fluent English (written and spoken)
• German is an advantage
