Planner (P6) | Major Industrial Programme | Somerset

A leading organisation delivering a large-scale industrial programme is looking for an experienced Planner to join a high-profile project team. This is an opportunity to work within a complex delivery environment where planning plays a critical role in coordinating multiple workstreams, managing dependencies and supporting successful programme execution.

The Role

Working closely with the senior planning function, you will be responsible for maintaining detailed project schedules, tracking progress, identifying risks to delivery and supporting effective decision-making across the programme. This role is focused on internal planning activities, with external client reporting managed by the wider planning leadership team.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating within a fast-paced, technically complex environment and will have experience supporting major projects within sectors such as energy, manufacturing, industrial engineering or large-scale logistics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and update integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Monitor project progress against key milestones and delivery objectives.
  • Analyse schedule performance and identify risks, delays and critical path impacts.
  • Work closely with project, engineering and delivery teams to ensure plans remain accurate and achievable.
  • Support programme controls, forecasting and schedule optimisation activities.
  • Produce planning reports and provide schedule insights to project stakeholders.
  • Ensure planning data is maintained to a high standard and aligned with programme governance requirements.

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Planner on large, complex projects.
  • Strong Primavera P6 experience.
  • Background within energy, manufacturing, industrial engineering, logistics or similarly complex delivery environments.
  • Experience managing interconnected schedules, dependencies and programme risks.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within an onsite project environment.

  • Contract: Initial contract opportunity
  • IR35 Status: Inside IR35
  • Rate: £500 per day
  • Location: Somerset
  • Working Pattern: Ideally 5 days onsite per week (4 days may be considered for the right candidate)
  • Start Date: ASAP
