Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is an innovative rocket launch provider developing next-generation launch vehicles and propulsion technologies. As the business continues to expand, they are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team and contribute to the design and development of critical hardware used in launch systems.
This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace technology, taking concepts from initial design through to manufacturing, testing, and deployment.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical systems and components used across launch vehicle programmes.
Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and reliable hardware capable of operating in demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for launch vehicle applications.
Produce detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
Support the full product lifecycle from concept through to manufacture and testing.
Conduct design reviews, tolerance studies, and design-for-manufacture assessments.
Work closely with manufacturing, test, and systems engineering teams to ensure successful product delivery.
Support prototype development, integration, and testing activities.
Investigate and resolve engineering issues throughout the development process.
Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering best practices.
About You
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience in mechanical design within a complex engineering environment.
Proficient with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or similar.
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Desirable
Experience within aerospace, space, defence, automotive, motorsport, or other high-performance engineering sectors.
Knowledge of structural analysis, thermal design, or fluid systems.
Experience designing for harsh operating environments.
Understanding of product development and qualification testing.
