Senior Children's Residential Support Worker – Manchester
Salary: Competitive | Location: Manchester | Contract: Temp to Perm (3–4 Months) | Hourly rate before transitioning to Salaried
About the Role
We are recruiting for experienced and passionate Senior Children's Residential Support Workers to join a children's residential home in Manchester on a temporary to permanent basis. The role is initially offered on a temporary contract of 3–4 months, with a view to transitioning into a permanent position for the right candidate.
In this senior role, you will play a key part in providing high-quality, trauma-informed care to young people, supporting their emotional, social, and developmental needs within a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide consistent, high-quality care and support to young people in a residential setting in line with Ofsted regulations and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015
* Act as a positive role model and mentor to both young people and junior support workers
* Lead and support shifts in the absence of the Deputy Manager, ensuring the smooth running of the home
* Develop, implement, and review individual care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans in collaboration with the wider care team
* Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, promoting their independence, self-esteem, and wellbeing
* Support young people with daily living activities including education, appointments, activities, and personal care where required
* Record and maintain accurate, contemporaneous case notes, incident reports, and other documentation to the required standard
* Attend and contribute to team meetings, supervisions, and multi-agency meetings including LAC reviews and EHCP meetings where appropriate
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people in line with local and national safeguarding procedures
* Support and mentor junior colleagues, sharing best practice and contributing to a positive team culture
Essential Requirements
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) — this is a mandatory requirement and applications without this qualification cannot be considered
* Full UK driving licence
* Proven experience working in a children's residential care setting
* Sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and Ofsted standards
* Strong communication, recording, and report-writing skills
* Ability to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins as required
