The Supply Register is working in partnership with the Odyssey Collaborative Trust to recruit an experienced Primary Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant for a full‑time role in a primary school in Derby.
This is a general classroom role, supporting pupils in Reception and Key Stage 1 (Year 1/2) — ideal for someone who enjoys being fully involved in early years and lower primary learning.
⚠️ Important Requirement
This role is only suitable for candidates with previous experience working with children in education or care settings.
If you do not have relevant experience, this position will not be suitable.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with the class teacher to support pupils across the school day, helping to deliver engaging lessons and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment.
This is a hands-on, full-time classroom role, supporting both learning and development in early years and KS1.
Key Responsibilities
Support teaching and learning across Reception and KS1
Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and daily routines
Provide general classroom support and small‑group interventions
Help create a calm, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Build strong relationships with pupils and staff
Support pupils’ early development, independence, and confidence
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children (school setting essential)
Strong communication and behaviour‑management skills
A patient, proactive, and supportive approach
Confidence working in EYFS and KS1 environments
A genuine passion for supporting young learners
This Role Is Not Suitable If:
You have no experience working with children
You are seeking non‑education roles (e.g. retail, warehouse, office)
You are not comfortable supporting young pupils or SEN needs
You cannot commit to full‑time school hours
