About the Role
Are you a proactive, delivery-focused Manufacturing Engineer who thrives on being on the shop floor rather than stuck behind a desk?
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Project Engineer to support and lead a portfolio of containerisation improvement initiatives at our world-class manufacturing facility in Desford. This role perfectly combines practical engineering execution with project management responsibility. You will focus on implementing robust processes to support increasing operational output, eliminate process variability, and improve efficiency across the containerisation footprint.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery: Lead and deliver containerisation-related projects from their current status through to successful shopfloor implementation. Define scope, timelines, risks, and deliverables.
Hands-on Optimization: Actively support and implement process improvements on the shopfloor. Coordinate the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new equipment and tooling.
Process Stability: Review current manufacturing methods to identify opportunities to improve throughput, efficiency, and quality. Establish repeatable, standardized operating procedures.
Continuous Improvement: Use data and direct shopfloor observations to identify performance gaps and drive structured problem-solving initiatives aligned with lean manufacturing principles.
Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the central link to coordinate progress seamlessly across operations, supply chain, and engineering stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
Required Experience:
Manufacturing Background: Proven experience working within a Manufacturing Engineering or Production Engineering environment.
Project Execution: Demonstrated ability to both plan and physically execute engineering changes in a live production setting.
Problem Solving: Strong background in structured process improvement and troubleshooting inefficiencies.
Installation Support: Practical experience supporting equipment installation or physical process layout adjustments.
Communication: Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Desirable Asset Skills:
Direct experience in material handling or containerisation processes.
Exposure to capital project delivery.
Practical knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement (CI) frameworks.
