Material Controller
Location: Near Basingstoke (Commutable from Basingstoke, Aldershot, Aldermaston, Tadley, Newbury, Theale, Reading and surrounding areas)
Salary: £15.00 per hour DOE
Interview Process: One-stage, onsite

Syntech Recruitment is working with a well-established precision engineering business near Basingstoke that manufactures high-quality machined components for a range of industries. We are recruiting a Material Controller to support purchasing, stock management, and material flow throughout the workshop.
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety in their day. You'll spend part of your time managing purchase orders, supplier deliveries, stock records, and documentation, while also being actively involved on the shop floor handling materials, packing orders, and supporting production.

* Standard hours: 8:00am–4:30pm
* Early Friday finish at 1:00pm when starting at 7:00am Monday–Friday

Material Controller Responsibilities
* Raise and process purchase orders for materials, consumables, and subcontract services
* Match supplier delivery notes and invoices against purchase orders
* Liaise with suppliers regarding deliveries, shortages, and order queries
* Maintain accurate stock records using internal systems and Microsoft Office
* Receive, check, and book in incoming materials and components
* Organise and control stock levels to support production requirements
* Pick, pack, and prepare finished components for dispatch
* Move materials throughout the workshop to ensure machinists have what they need
* Prepare raw materials for production, including cutting materials using workshop saws and equipment
* Assist with goods-in, dispatch, and general stores activities
Material Controller Profile
This position would suit someone with experience in purchasing, stores, stock control, production administration, or materials planning within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Essential Experience
* Experience raising purchase orders and dealing with suppliers
* Experience matching orders, delivery notes, and invoices
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Confident telephone and email communication skills
* Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, warehouse, stores, or workshop environment
* Willingness to undertake hands-on duties including packing, stock handling, and material movement
* Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively within a small team
Desirable
* Experience working within a precision engineering or CNC machining environment
* Knowledge of stock control or ERP systems
* Ability to read basic engineering drawings
