The Role
We are seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to join a well-established main contractor within their pre-construction team.
This is a key position responsible for producing accurate, competitive, and commercially viable tenders across a range of Leisure and Commercial projects, supporting continued business growth and securing new work.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing the full estimating process from initial enquiry through to submission and handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the preparation and submission of detailed tenders
* Review and analyse tender documentation, identifying risks, opportunities, and contractual requirements
* Prepare take-offs, Bills of Quantities, and full cost build-ups
* Manage subcontractor enquiries, analyse returns, and build competitive pricing strategies
* Carry out site visits and assess project-specific requirements
* Develop preliminary cost plans and construction methodology input
* Lead internal tender adjudication meetings with senior management
* Support value engineering and cost optimisation exercises
* Prepare and compile handover documentation for delivery teams
* Liaise closely with pre-construction, commercial, and operational teams
Requirements
* Proven experience as an Estimating Manager or Senior Estimator within a main contractor
* Strong knowledge of Design & Build and traditional procurement routes
* Experience across Leisure and/or Commercial sectors
* Excellent understanding of subcontractor procurement and market rates
* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
* Ability to manage multiple tenders under tight deadlines
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
