Managing Quantity Surveyor

London (Northern, Western & Central London Projects)

A leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure and utility projects across London.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business with a strong pipeline of secured work, delivering projects across water, utilities, transport, energy and the built environment sectors.

The Role

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Working closely with operational teams and senior management, you will drive commercial performance, manage risk and ensure projects are delivered successfully from tender stage through to final account.

Projects range in value from £200k to £10m+ and include both framework and standalone schemes.

Key Responsibilities

Produce accurate cost and value reporting, forecasting and monthly CVRs

Manage project cash flow and applications for payment

Lead subcontract procurement, negotiation and commercial management

Administer NEC and IChemE contracts, including change management and compensation events

Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks

Support project teams with commercial guidance and cost management

Manage contractual correspondence and stakeholder relationships

Drive efficiencies and maximise commercial opportunities across projects

Mentor and support junior commercial team members

Contribute to business unit profitability and commercial performance

About You

To be considered, you will have:

Strong experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities or water sectors

Proven experience managing projects through the full commercial lifecycle

Excellent NEC3 and NEC4 contract knowledge

Experience managing subcontract procurement and commercial performance

Strong forecasting, cost reporting and CVR experience

Previous experience managing or mentoring Quantity Surveyors

Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively

Desirable

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar discipline

RICS, CICES or working towards professional accreditation

CSCS Card

Experience within a direct delivery contracting environment

Design and Build project experience

Open-book contract experience
