We are currently seeking a resilient, committed, and experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support learners within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Rhondda Cynon Taf. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who require additional support to engage in education and achieve positive outcomes.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, helping to create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with challenging behaviour and additional learning needs.
Build positive, professional relationships with learners to promote engagement and progress.
Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies and individual support plans.
Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting activities to meet individual needs.
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and personal development.
Contribute to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Requirements

Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience working with children or young people who display challenging behaviour.
Background in one or more of the following:

Youth Work
Social Work
Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Teaching Assistant roles
Residential Care
Behaviour Support
Alternative Provision settings

Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.

Desirable

Previous experience working within a PRU, Alternative Provision, or specialist setting.
Team Teach or other positive handling/de-escalation training.
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
