Location: Beckfoot Allerton Primary, Beckfoot Heaton School, Beckfoot Nessfield, Beckfoot Priesthorpe

Contract: Part-time and full-time opportunities available

We are seeking dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join our partnership primary schools within the Beckfoot Trust. Beckfoot Allerton Primary, Beckfoot Heaton School, Beckfoot Nessfield, and Beckfoot Priesthorpe are vibrant and inclusive schools committed to creating an environment where every pupil can thrive.

As an HLTA, you will have a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, including planning and delivering lessons, leading interventions, and supporting pupils with additional needs. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and families to ensure every pupil receives tailored support and can reach their full potential.

A key aspect of this role is removing barriers to learning through targeted interventions, adapting resources, and delivering structured lessons or small group sessions. You will also support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development, fostering confidence, independence, and positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver whole-class or small group lessons under the direction of teachers
Provide targeted one-to-one or small group support for pupils, including those with SEND and EHCPs
Plan and adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs and learning styles
Implement personalised learning plans and interventions
Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
Support pupils’ social, communication, and life skills development
Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
Act as a positive role model, building strong, professional relationships with pupils
Support classroom organisation, displays, and general administrative duties as required

What We’re Looking For

HLTA qualification or relevant higher-level experience in primary education
Experience working with children with SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs)
Knowledge of EHCPs and personalised support strategies
Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach
Ability to plan, deliver, and adapt lessons effectively
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
