Senior Quantity Surveyor – Sheffield – Highways – £Negotiable + Package
Are you looking for the opportunity to commercially lead a flagship infrastructure project while securing long-term local work?
We are working with one of the UK’s leading infrastructure contractors, a business with a multi-billion-pound order book and an outstanding reputation for delivering highways, public realm and active travel schemes across the country.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take full commercial responsibility for a £20m active travel scheme in Sheffield. This high-profile project will run for the next three years and includes the delivery of new cycle infrastructure, public realm improvements, junction upgrades and enhanced pedestrian connectivity. Beyond this scheme, there is a secured pipeline of local work across South Yorkshire, providing excellent continuity and future career prospects.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you will lead all commercial activities from project mobilisation through to final account. Responsibilities will include subcontract procurement and management, cost forecasting and reporting, client valuations, compensation event management, change control and ensuring robust commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with operational teams, clients and supply chain partners to maximise value, manage risk and ensure successful project delivery under the NEC form of contract.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working for a main contractor within highways, public realm or civil engineering environments and will be confident leading the commercial function on projects of similar value. Strong NEC contract knowledge, excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to mentor and support junior team members are essential.
In return, you will receive a competitive salary, company car or allowance, private healthcare, enhanced pension contributions, flexible working arrangements and access to ongoing professional development within one of the UK’s most respected infrastructure businesses.
