About the Role
Are you a resilient, commanding, and empathetic individual who can see past a student's behavior to their potential?
We are seeking an exceptional Behaviour Mentor to join a secondary school in Stafford. This role is specifically designed for someone who thrives on a challenge and wants to make a real, lasting impact on young people. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who find the standard classroom environment challenging, helping them de-escalate, manage their emotions, and re-engage with their education.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work on a 1:1 or small-group basis with secondary-aged students displaying challenging behavior or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
* Implement tailored behavior intervention plans, helping students recognize triggers and develop positive coping mechanisms.
* Act as a bridge between the student and the classroom, restoring focus and ensuring a calm transition back into learning.
* Set firm, fair, and consistent boundaries, acting as both a strong authority figure and a trusted mentor.
What We Are Looking For:
We need someone with an unshakeable presence who can handle challenging days with composure and a sense of humor. We are looking for:
* Experience: Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or Working in PRUs / Alternative Provisions with secondary-aged youth.
* Behavior Mastery: Exceptional, confident behavior management skills with a proven track record of successfully de-escalating heightened situations.
* Character: Thick-skinned, highly resilient, and emotionally intelligent. You must be able to build quick rapport with disengaged or vulnerable teenagers.
* Desirable: Qualifications or training in Team Teach, Restorative Justice, or trauma-informed practice are highly advantageous.
