An established and highly successful civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Southern Region team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure projects, involving the construction of critical new infrastructure.
With a history spanning more than 70 years, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects across the highways, bridges, flood defence, environmental and transportation sectors. Operating across multiple regional offices, the company continues to secure major framework agreements and high-profile projects, supported by a strong financial position and a healthy forward order book.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Overview
Manage the commercial aspects of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from inception through to completion
Support, mentor and develop junior commercial team members
Maximise profitability across contracts and ensure commercial objectives are achieved
Monitor contract costs against budgets and provide accurate forecasting
Identify commercial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
Prepare detailed cost estimates and commercial reports
Procure subcontractors, including the preparation and negotiation of subcontract documentation
Assess and certify interim and final subcontractor payments
Prepare, negotiate and agree main contract variations
Assist with the preparation of documentation relating to dispute resolution, including adjudications and arbitrations
Ensure all commercial activities comply with quality, safety and environmental standards and company procedures
Work closely with operational teams to ensure successful project delivery
Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Requirements
Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
Strong background working on civil engineering and infrastructure projects, particularly highways schemes
Demonstrable experience administering and managing NEC forms of contract
Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
Ambitious and proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Innovative problem-solving skills and confidence working across multiple levels within a construction environment
Strong numerical, analytical and IT skills
Ability to mentor and support junior team members
Full UK driving licence
