London | Hybrid Working | £60,000 - £75,000
Are you an experienced Tailings Engineer looking to take the lead on some of the world's most challenging mining and infrastructure projects?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Tailings Engineer to join a leading international engineering consultancy in London. Working within a multidisciplinary team of geotechnical, civil and mining specialists, you will play a key role in the design, assessment and management of tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and mine waste projects across the globe.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of major projects, mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued growth of a highly regarded technical team.
The Role
Lead the design and assessment of tailings storage facilities and mine waste infrastructure.
Deliver geotechnical and civil engineering solutions across all project stages, from feasibility through to detailed design and closure.
Undertake stability assessments, seepage analysis and dam safety reviews.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams.
Manage client relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor.
Prepare and review technical reports, design calculations and specifications.
Support business development activities and contribute to winning new work.
Mentor and develop junior engineers and consultants.
Requirements
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering or a related discipline.
Chartered status (CEng or equivalent) preferred.
Extensive experience in tailings engineering, mine waste management or geotechnical design.
Strong understanding of tailings storage facility design, construction and operation.
Experience undertaking geotechnical analyses and numerical modelling.
Proven project management and client-facing experience.
Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on complex international projects.
