Great opportunity to work as a Transport Planner for our client's leading logistics company.

Staffline is recruiting a Transport Planner in Telford.

The rate of pay is £35,000 - £40,000 per annum.

This is a full-time role working fixed afternoons and the hours of work are:
- 12noon - 8pm

Your Time at Work
As a Transport Planner, you'll plan and optimise daily transport operations to ensure on-time, cost-effective deliveries and collections. You'll work closely with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to deliver a high-quality service while maintaining compliance with UK transport regulations.

Key responsibilities
- Create and manage daily/weekly transport plans to meet service and cost targets.
- Allocate loads, route vehicles, and schedule collections/deliveries using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
- Coordinate with drivers, subcontractors, and warehouse teams to resolve issues in real time.
- Monitor vehicle utilisation, capacity, and KPIs (OTIF, cost per drop, empty running) and drive improvements.
- Ensure compliance with UK transport legislation including Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive (WTD), and tachograph rules.
- Manage customer communications, booking-in, and service recovery where required.
- Support incident reporting, defect management, and safe systems of work in line with company policy.
- Maintain accurate planning, POD, and administration records.

Our Perfect Worker
- Proven experience in transport planning within logistics, distribution, or haulage.
- Strong knowledge of UK compliance: Drivers' Hours, WTD, and tachograph legislation.
- Confident using TMS and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables/lookups desirable).
- Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with drivers and customers.
- CPC qualification (National/International) or willingness to work towards it.
- Experience planning multi-drop routes and time-critical deliveries.
- Knowledge of cost control, subcontractor management, and procurement.
- Experience in temperature-controlled, FMCG, retail, or e-commerce distribution.
