Due to continued growth, we are seeking an organised and enthusiastic Import Operations Assistant to join our busy operations team in Broughton Astley. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within the freight forwarding and logistics industry.

The Role

As an Import Operations Assistant, you will provide administrative and operational support to the Import Operations Department, helping to ensure the smooth movement of customer shipments and maintaining excellent service levels throughout the import process.

Working closely with experienced colleagues, customers, suppliers, and carriers, you will play an important role in monitoring shipments, maintaining accurate records, and supporting daily operational activities.

Key Responsibilities

-Provide administrative support to the Import Operations Department.
-Assist with the day-to-day coordination of import shipments.
-Update and maintain the company's in-house operational systems accurately and efficiently.
-Monitor deliveries and shipment progress, following up where necessary to ensure timely completion.
-Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, carriers, and other stakeholders.
-Review shipment documentation and information for accuracy and completeness.
-Assist with resolving operational queries and escalating issues when appropriate.
-Ensure customer records and shipment data are maintained accurately.
-Support other departments and team members as required.
-Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes and procedures.
-Maintain high levels of customer service and professionalism at all times.

Skills & Experience

Essential

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
-High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
-Good organisational and time management skills.
-Ability to prioritise workload effectively and meet deadlines.
-Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
-Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
-Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
-Flexible and adaptable approach to work.

Requirements

Due to the nature of this industry, candidates will be required to complete the following verification checks:

Basic DBS check (criminal record check)

5-year history of employment or education (no gaps in employment longer than 28 days)

ID check i.e. British passport or driving licence
