Supply Desk is working in partnership with a number of welcoming and supportive primary and secondary schools across Brighton and Hove, who are seeking experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join them on a long-term basis in the new academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to take on additional responsibility and play a key role in supporting teaching and learning.

About the Role

As an HLTA, you will support the delivery of high-quality education across a range of subjects and key stages. You may be required to lead whole-class sessions in the absence of the teacher, deliver targeted interventions, and provide support to pupils with varying abilities, including those with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the teacher
Support classroom teaching and learning across KS1–KS4 (depending on setting)
Lead small group interventions to support pupil progress
Assist with planning and preparation of learning activities
Provide feedback to teachers on pupil performance and engagement
Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
Candidate Profile

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA
Confidence in leading whole-class learning when required
Strong understanding of classroom practices and behaviour management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proactive, flexible, and resilient approach
A genuine passion for supporting children’s development and learning
Requirements

HLTA qualification or equivalent experience (desirable)
Previous experience working in a school setting (essential)
Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Two years’ worth of professional references
Eligibility to work in the UK
