Renowned for quality, innovation and long-term client relationships, they are seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a build project in Telford
The Role
They are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a major construction project in Telford. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their quantity surveying career within a leading main contractor.
Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider project team, you will assist in the commercial management of the project from procurement through to final account, ensuring financial control and value are maintained throughout the construction process.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and management of subcontract procurement packages.
Support the commercial team with tender analysis and subcontractor comparisons.
Prepare and process subcontract orders and related documentation.
Assist with the measurement and valuation of works.
Support the preparation of interim valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
Monitor and record subcontractor performance and expenditure.
Assist in cost reporting, forecasting and budget monitoring.
Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
Support the management of change control, variations and compensation events.
Liaise with site management, design teams, clients and subcontractors.
Attend project and commercial meetings as required.
Assist in identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual obligations and industry standards.Education, Skills and Experience
BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying & Construction Management / HNC / HND
Previous experience within the construction industry, either through a placement year, graduate programme or Assistant Quantity Surveyor role.
Experience working for a Tier 1 or regional main contractor.
Knowledge of JCT and NEC contract forms
Strong commercial awareness and numerical ability.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced project environment.
Full UK Driving Licence
