🚀 About the Role

We're recruiting for two Associate Business Partners to join a forward-thinking local authority finance team during an exciting period of transformation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the Finance Business Partnering function, supporting the organisation through its performance cycle with a strong focus on financial reporting, analysis, and in-year decision support.

You'll act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, helping drive value for money, improve financial performance, and support the delivery of key services to the community.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

Lead on financial reporting and analytical review across service areas
Provide expert financial advice to budget holders and senior stakeholders
Support budget setting, forecasting, and in-year financial monitoring
Analyse performance against budgets, forecasts, and benchmarks
Deliver clear insights to support operational decision-making
Build capability by training and supporting budget holders
Contribute to year-end accounts, grant claims, and bids
Support development of business cases (less complex)
Ensure strong financial governance, control, and compliance
Challenge stakeholders to improve financial outcomes and efficiency

✅ What We're Looking For

Part-qualified CCAB accountant or AAT qualified with strong experience
Proven experience in:
Financial management and budgeting
Forecasting and financial reporting
Supporting and influencing non-finance stakeholders
Strong Excel skills and experience with finance systems
Ability to analyse complex data and provide actionable insights
Experience within public sector or large organisations

⭐ Desirable

Local Government finance experience
Knowledge of public sector financial frameworks
Experience contributing to corporate budget processes

Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
Organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities
