We are seeking a proactive and technically minded NPI Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Fareham. This role will suit someone with experience in electro-mechanical assembly, prototype builds, product testing, and supporting new product introduction from concept through to production.
The role
You will work closely with design, production, quality, and supply chain teams to support prototype and NPI activities, identify manufacturability issues, and help improve build processes and documentation. The position requires a hands-on approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to translate engineering information into clear production-ready documentation.
Key responsibilities
Support prototype, NPI, and low-volume production builds.
Build, test, and debug products to meet customer and quality requirements.
Interpret schematics and engineering drawings and convert them into production documentation.
Identify design for manufacture issues and provide practical feedback to improve buildability.
Create and improve work instructions, build procedures, and test documentation.
Carry out root cause analysis, issue tracking, and corrective actions.
Work with manufacturing tools, fixtures, and test equipment.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support smooth product transition into production.What we are looking for
Experience in electro-mechanical assembly and product build environments.
Practical knowledge of prototype builds, NPI builds, or low-volume manufacturing.
Strong problem-solving ability and a hands-on approach.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Familiarity with MS Office and exposure to 3D modelling software.
Experience with ERP systems, ideally E10 or Vantage.
IPC 610 / 620 qualification is desirable.
Experience with computer rack cabinets or computer assembly is desirable.
