A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a major highways programme across the North West.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established project team on a significant civil engineering project, taking responsibility for key commercial activities from project delivery through to final account.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager and operational teams, you will play a pivotal role in managing project costs, maximising value recovery, administering NEC contracts, and ensuring strong commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the commercial performance of highways and civil engineering projects
Produce and maintain CVRs, forecasts, and commercial reports
Administer subcontract accounts from procurement through to final account
Manage compensation events, variations, and change control processes
Review and administer NEC contracts
Prepare and submit applications for payment
Monitor project cash flow and commercial performance
Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors
Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
Support project teams with contractual and commercial advice
Ensure accurate reporting and forecasting throughout project delivery

Requirements

Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within highways or civil engineering
Strong NEC contract knowledge and administration experience
Experience managing subcontractor accounts and change control processes
Proven ability to produce CVRs, forecasts, and commercial reports
Strong understanding of infrastructure project delivery
Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
