SEND Teaching Assistant – Visual Impairment (VI) Support

£98 - £110 per day (depending on experience)

PK Education are recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support students with visual impairments within a specialist provision attached to a secondary school in the Huddersfield area.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting in September and would suit an individual who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to access education and achieve their full potential.

The Role:

Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with visual impairments.
Supporting students both within mainstream lessons and specialist provision areas.
Assisting with the adaptation of learning resources to meet individual needs.
Promoting independence, confidence and engagement across the curriculum.
Working closely with teaching staff, SEND professionals and external agencies.
Supporting students with social, emotional and academic development.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
An understanding of visual impairment and the barriers students may face within education.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
Experience within schools, SEND settings, care, support work or youth work would be advantageous.
Requirements:

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Right to work in the UK.
Satisfactory references covering the previous two years.
