Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Quality Inspector on behalf of our client based in Braintree. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established subcontract sheet metal manufacturing company supplying high-quality precision components to a wide range of industries.
Main Purpose of the Role
To ensure manufactured components meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards through accurate inspection processes and quality control procedures. Working closely with production teams, you will play a key role in maintaining product quality and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspections of sheet metal components.
* Read and interpret customer drawings, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
* Perform dimensional inspections using a range of measuring equipment.
* Identify and report non-conforming products.
* Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions.
* Maintain inspection records and quality documentation.
* Liaise with production personnel to ensure quality standards are achieved.
* Support continuous improvement activities within the business.
Additional Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with customer quality requirements and company procedures.
* Assist with maintaining quality records and audit readiness.
* Promote quality awareness throughout the production process.
* Support wider business objectives and quality improvement projects where required.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
* Previous experience in a Quality Inspector or Quality Control role within a manufacturing environment.
* Experience within sheet metal fabrication, precision engineering, or a similar industry would be advantageous.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Experience using measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
* Strong attention to detail with a methodical and organised approach.
* Good communication skills and confidence to challenge quality issues when necessary.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems would be advantageous.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Working Pattern & Benefits
* Hours: 40 hours per week across either a 4-day or 5-day working week.
