Fawkes & Reece are currently working with a valued client who is seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join their team on a temporary basis in Newport, South Wales
My client is a Newport-based developer and contractor, has been active in several affordable housing regeneration projects in partnership with Newport City Homes (now Hedyn). Their projects focus on transforming listed or derelict buildings into modern, affordable housing within the city centre.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to contribute to an ongoing project, with work due to commence on the 1st July 2026 and run for approximately 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
Setting out and surveying on site in accordance with project specifications
Ensuring accuracy of levels and measurements
Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, and project managers
Maintaining clear and accurate site records
Supporting the successful delivery of the project within timelinesRequirements:
Proven experience working as a Setting Out Engineer on civils or construction projects
Strong knowledge of setting out techniques and equipment (e.g. GPS, total stations, Leica/Trimble)
Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent)
Valid CSCS card (essential)
SMSTS or SSSTS certification (desirable but not essential)
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and site plans
Experience using AutoCAD or similar software (advantageous)
Strong communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with site teams and subcontractors
Ability to work independently, manage workload, and maintain high levels of accuracy on site
Must have an SMSTS as will act as a manager on site.What's on Offer:
