EC&I Engineer | Siemens TIA Portal | Automation & Special Purpose Machinery
Location: Mirfield, West Yorkshire
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + Benefits
Are you an EC&I Engineer with strong Siemens TIA Portal experience looking to work on bespoke automation projects within a highly regulated and technically challenging environment?
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering and manufacturing business that designs and delivers specialist automated equipment for customers operating within pharmaceutical, healthcare, research and high-tech industrial sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing engineering team, working on projects from concept through to commissioning support while remaining primarily office-based.
The Role
As an EC&I Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and testing of electrical control systems and PLC software for a range of bespoke machinery and automated systems.
Working closely with mechanical, electrical and project engineering teams, you'll play a key role in delivering innovative solutions for customers across the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop PLC software primarily using Siemens TIA Portal
• Support projects involving Allen Bradley PLC platforms where required
• Design and develop electrical control systems and automation solutions
• Produce functional design specifications and technical documentation
• Configure HMI systems and operator interfaces
• Support electrical design reviews and system integration activities
• Carry out software testing, simulation and validation activities
• Provide technical support throughout project delivery and factory testing
• Work closely with project managers, design engineers and production teams
Requirements
• Previous experience as an EC&I Engineer, Automation Engineer, Controls Engineer or PLC Software Engineer
• Strong Siemens TIA Portal programming experience
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs would be advantageous
• Knowledge of electrical control systems, instrumentation and industrial automation
• Experience producing technical documentation and design specifications
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
• Experience within pharmaceutical, life sciences, manufacturing, process industries or special purpose machinery
• HMI and SCADA development experience
• Understanding of industrial communication networks and protocols
• HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical, Control Systems or Automation Engineering
