Senior Drainage Engineer
Bristol | Hybrid Working Available
Ready to take ownership of drainage projects that have a real impact on the UK's road network?
If you're an experienced Drainage Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges but feels limited by repetitive project work or a lack of progression, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
You'll join a growing highways team delivering a diverse portfolio of drainage and infrastructure projects, giving you the opportunity to lead designs, mentor engineers and influence the future development of a nationally important programme of works. The role offers a particular focus on drainage design and hydraulic modelling using Causeway Flow, alongside the opportunity to support the growth and development of an expanding drainage capability.
What's in it for you?
Join a well-established engineering consultancy with a significant long-term project pipeline
Work on a broad range of highways and infrastructure schemes
Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
Greater responsibility and autonomy in project delivery
Opportunities to mentor and develop junior engineers
Clear progression pathways and support for professional development
Exposure to both technical and commercial aspects of project delivery
The Role
As a Senior Drainage Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design, management and delivery of drainage solutions across a varied portfolio of highways projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
Producing and reviewing drainage designs and calculations
Delivering technically robust engineering solutions in line with relevant standards and design codes
Hydraulic modelling and drainage design using Causeway Flow
Managing project budgets, programmes and deliverables
Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
Working closely with clients and stakeholders
Contributing to bids and work-winning activities
Supporting health, safety and CDM requirements throughout project delivery
You'll have the opportunity to lead projects from concept through to completion, ensuring quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.
About You
You'll likely be an experienced Civil or Drainage Engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects and supporting others within a collaborative engineering environment.
Your experience may include:
Highways drainage design
Hydraulic modelling and drainage calculations
Causeway Flow software
DMRB and relevant design standards
Flood risk, drainage strategies and infrastructure design
CDM regulations and risk management
Client and stakeholder management
Supervising or mentoring junior engineers
Chartered or Incorporated status would be advantageous, although individuals working towards professional accreditation are also encouraged to apply.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
Drainage engineering is becoming increasingly important as infrastructure owners look to improve resilience, sustainability and network performance.
This role offers the chance to work on meaningful projects, expand your technical expertise and take on greater leadership responsibility within a supportive and forward-thinking team. You'll be trusted to make decisions, influence project outcomes and contribute to the growth of the wider business.
If you're looking for a role where your experience will be valued and your career can continue to develop, this is well worth exploring.
Interested?
