Field Service Engineer – Forklifts & Material Handling Equipment

Salary: £32,000 - £47,000 + Excellent Benefits
We are currently recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a leading organisation covering the Bristol region. This is a permanent opportunity offering either a 40-hour or 45-hour working week, Monday to Friday, with a competitive salary based on skills and experience.
This role would suit experienced Forklift Engineers, but we are also keen to hear from candidates with transferable skills from sectors such as plant machinery, agricultural equipment, powered access, industrial cleaning equipment, HGVs, commercial vehicles, automotive engineering, or field service engineering.
The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a fleet of material handling equipment across customer sites within your designated geographical area.
You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime and delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, fault-find and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs.
Complete service inspections and ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
Update maintenance schedules and service records using the company CMMS system.
Liaise with customers regarding equipment performance, repairs and fleet availability.
Build strong working relationships with customers and provide a professional, customer-focused service.
Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety standards and company procedures.
About You
To be considered for the higher end of the salary range, you will ideally have direct experience working on forklift trucks or material handling equipment.
However, we would also welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

Essential Requirements
Strong mechanical engineering skills.
Experience working on motorised vehicles or mobile equipment.
Good fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Basic IT skills and experience using electronic service records.
Desirable
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Maintenance or a related discipline.
Experience working with hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
Previous field-based engineering experience.
