Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for an opportunity to work on innovative diagnostic technology?
We are working with a rapidly growing technology company developing cutting-edge diagnostic products used within healthcare environments. Due to continued growth and ongoing product development activities, they are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Product Development team.
This is not a manufacturing engineering role. Instead, you will focus on the ongoing enhancement of an existing commercial product, supporting design improvements, product performance, reliability and lifecycle management through a structured design control process.
The Role
Working within a multidisciplinary R&D team, you will take ownership of design updates and engineering changes, ensuring products continue to evolve and improve following commercial launch.
Key responsibilities include:
Updating and improving existing product designs using CAD
Managing engineering changes through formal change control processes
Conducting physical testing and evaluation activities to support product improvements
Investigating product issues and supporting root cause analysis activities
Creating and maintaining engineering documentation, drawings and specifications
Supporting Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities
Working closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve technical issues
Supporting verification and validation activities
Maintaining product documentation in line with quality and regulatory requirements
About You
We are looking for an engineer with experience working within a regulated industry such as medical devices, diagnostics, aerospace or another highly controlled engineering environment.
You will ideally have:
Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Commercial experience in product design and development
Strong CAD skills, ideally using SolidWorks
Experience managing design changes through formal change control processes
Knowledge of DFMEA and risk management activities
Experience carrying out product testing and supporting engineering investigations
Strong documentation and technical report writing skills
Experience working within a quality management system
Desirable Experience
ISO 13485 or FDA-regulated environments
Medical device, diagnostics or life science products
Product verification and validation activities
Design transfer and supplier management
Root cause analysis methodologies
