Engineering Manager | Python | AI Platform & Data Engineering

Location: London (Hybrid - 1-2 Days Per Week)
Salary: Up to £140,000 + Bonus + Benefits

We're working with a rapidly growing technology business that is making significant investment into the platforms, APIs and data infrastructure that will underpin its future AI capabilities.

As part of this journey, they're looking for an Engineering Manager to build and lead a brand-new engineering function focused on developing scalable Python services, API architecture, and large-scale data integrations that enable AI products across the organisation.

This is not an AI/ML management role. Instead, you'll be responsible for building the engineering foundations that make AI initiatives possible, leading a team responsible for creating the platforms, services and integrations required to support advanced analytics, automation and AI tooling.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building and growing a new software engineering team.
  • Leading engineers developing Python-based APIs and Back End services.
  • Driving integration of large, complex datasets from multiple sources.
  • Working with Product, Data and Architecture teams to define technical strategy.
  • Establishing engineering best practices, delivery processes and team culture.
  • Supporting architectural decision-making around scalability, performance and reliability.
  • Coaching and developing engineers while creating a high-performing team environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience leading software engineering teams.
  • Strong technical background in Back End engineering, ideally with Python.
  • Experience delivering API-first platforms and distributed systems.
  • Exposure to data-intensive environments and large-scale integrations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience balancing technical leadership with people management.

Why This Role?

  • Opportunity to build a team from the ground up.
  • Significant influence over engineering culture and technical direction.
  • High-profile programme supporting enterprise-wide AI initiatives.
  • Strong executive backing and investment.
  • Hybrid working model with London-based collaboration.
  • Salary up to £140,000 plus bonus and benefits.

For a confidential discussion, please apply or get in touch directly.
