The Role
As Head of English, you will:
* Lead and manage the English department, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning.
* Develop and implement a strategic vision for English across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
* Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing effective intervention strategies where required.
* Support, coach and develop members of the English team.
* Drive improvements in attainment, progress and student outcomes.
* Lead curriculum planning, assessment and quality assurance within the department.
* Ensure high-quality teaching practices are embedded across the team.
* Contribute to whole-school leadership initiatives and improvement planning.
* Promote a culture of excellence, inclusion and continuous improvement.
Qualifications Required
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* A degree in English or a closely related subject.
* Evidence of successful middle or senior leadership experience within an English department.
* Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment frameworks.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
