Description
We’re looking for an ambitious Estimator to join our Milton Keynes team, working on major, high-profile civils and infrastructure projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in securing exciting work and shaping projects from the earliest stages.

As an Estimator, you’ll be at the heart of our pre-construction team, developing accurate and competitive tenders while collaborating closely with operational and commercial teams.
What you will be doing:

Develop detailed budgets from first principles, including labour, materials, plant, and equipment

Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure best value

Review drawings, specifications, programmes, and scope of works

Carry out accurate measurement and quantity take-offs using tools such as Bluebeam / ACC Take Off

Produce Bills of Quantities in line with relevant methods of measurement (e.g. SMM7)

Identify project risks and opportunities, contributing to a risk & opportunity register

Explore and propose value engineering solutions

Support and participate in bid negotiations and client meetings

Produce tender reports for adjudication and take part in review and settlement meetings

Collaborate with internal teams and actively contribute to knowledge sharing

What you will bring:

Experience in civils projects such as groundworks, substructure, drainage, roadworks, paving, earthworks, or RC frames

A solid understanding of estimating principles and methods of measurement (e.g. SMM7)

Experience using electronic take-off tools (e.g. Bluebeam, ACC or similar)

Strong numerical and analytical skills with commercial awareness

Excellent organisation and time management skills

Clear communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset

Desirable (but not essential):

Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management

Experience with estimating software such as Candy
