Following continued growth, the business has established a brand-new Billing function and is now looking for a Team Leader to help shape, develop and support the team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong billing experience who enjoys mentoring others, improving processes and driving high standards across a function.
You'll play a key role in supporting business cashflow, ensuring billing operations run efficiently, controls are maintained and the team is set up for long term success.
Location: North Manchester + Hybrid + Flexible start/finish times
Salary: £35,000 -£38,000
Main duties:
Lead, mentor and support the Billing team, providing guidance, training and development to drive performance and engagement.
Oversee the end-to-end billing process, ensuring invoices are produced accurately and in line with agreed contracts, rates and billing schedules.
Manage weekly and monthly billing cycles, ensuring all chargeable work is captured and invoiced in a timely manner.
Review billing data, reconciliations and reporting, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions where required.
Act as an escalation point for complex billing queries, building strong relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders.
Monitor unbilled work, billing performance and key controls to support cashflow and minimise risk.
Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, controls and efficiencies, supporting the ongoing development of the function.
Support month-end activities, reporting requirements and wider finance projects as required.
Candidate specification:
Previous experience within a senior billing role ready to step up or a billing team leader role.
Experience mentoring, coaching, supervising or supporting team members.
Strong understanding of end-to-end billing processes and associated controls.
Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Experience using finance or accounting systems.
Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations, lookups and working with large volumes of data.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
A proactive mindset with the confidence to identify and implement process improvements.
A good understanding of accounting principles and VAT requirements.
